Cable and Deadpool #43 [Spoilers]

Far less annoying than a lot of Wolverine guest appearances I've seen. Deadpool discovers that Wolverine is planning to attack Hydra Bob's old Hydra base. Trouble is, Weasel is still there, and while Deadpool is pretty sure that Weasel could survive among the hordes of Hydra, once Wolverine shows up, all bets are off. So Agency X takes on the case.

As for Weasel, he's not only been surviving, he has more-or-less joined up! While he's done so in order to avoid being killed, he's still able to muster some enthusiasm for the cause. Hydra itself, perceiving Weasel's moral flexibility, is unconvinced of his sincerity, but still willing to make use of his brain in a hilarious sequence featuring some awesome innuendo.

The best bits are Deadpool's interactions with Weasel and with Hydra Bob. I'm sure that Wade would consider himself a ladies' man, but on the whole he seems to bond more with men. Not that these relationships tend to be functional. His friendship with Cable--intimate in some ways, complex, possibly inexplicable, sometimes coming close to taking the "sub" out of subtext. His partnership with Weasel--they have worked together for years in a relationship based on mutual self-interest, both are primarily self-focused but appear to have considerable regard for one another, as much as either is capable of. And as for Bob--who I really, really hope survives the next issue, as I've grown quite fond of him--well, apparently he has grown on Deadpool as well.
